Presentation and Table of Contents

Since 1 March 2016, I am a Legal Officer at the Central Intellectual Property Service of the European Commission (DG Joint Research Center, Intellectual Property & Technology Transfer Unit), where I provide legal analysis of IP cases, contribute to raising awareness on IP among EC staff and provide contributions to policy formulation.

Prior experience includes 4 years of work as a lawyer (TMT & IP) at PLMJ, followed by a LL.M. in Intellectual Property Law at Queen Mary, University of London, a Blue Book internship in the European Commission (DG GROW, Standards for Boosting Growth) and experiences as Research Assistant at Queen Mary University of London (project 'Private Copying Exception and Copyright Levies', which involved the research and analysis of regional and national copyright laws to understand the configuration of private copying exceptions and associated levies or other compensation systems and their efficiency) and Legal Researcher at KU Leuven CiTiP, where I worked in EU funded projects (FP7, Horizon 2020) relating to the legal aspects (privacy, security and intellectual property) of the use of information and communication technologies (ICT).

I continue to attend courses and seminars to keep up-to-date in the field of intellectual property law. In 2017, I concluded the IVIR International Copyright Law Summer Course (Institute for Information Law, University of Amsterdam). In 2018, I completed CopyrightX, a twelve-week networked course that is offered annually under the auspices of Harvard Law School, the HarvardX distance-learning initiative, and the Berkman Klein Center for Internet and Society.
